Great tried and true sugar cookie recipe?
I need a great sugar cookie recipe. The one I followed wasn't as soft as I would like it (even though I made them thick and took them out when they were set). They didn't taste amazing either. I know sugar cookies are kinda bland, but they can be better than this!
Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies:
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter (softened)
3 oz. cream cheese (softened)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/4 cups flour
Mix all ingredients except flour. Add in flour until well blended. Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes before rolling and cutting.
Note: The dough is very sticky, so put plenty of flour on your rolling surface. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-10 minutes.
Icing:
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 teaspoons milk
4 teaspoons light corn syrup
Food coloring
Mix all ingredients well. This can be applied to cookies with back of spoon or small brush to make a smooth, hardened, glossy finish when dry.
