Why would a tree have half of it's leaves small or missing on one sagital plane but not the other during fall?
I saw this during fall. The leaves were different colors than in summer as normal during fall
I may not being using the term sagital plane correctly but if it was a human I would call it the sagital plane or possibly the coronal/frontal plane
If you stood in a certain location half on the left would be missing or small size and half on the right would be normal sized and present.

Correct me if I am wrong....I think it is because the tree is stationary and the sun is not.Making it directionally proportionate to which side faces north. Frost and/or cold heavy dew will make the smaller and less vibrant leaf fall in autumn. Magnetic north also polarizes synthesis while the tree grows. Most trees will form moss on the the north side on the bark.
